Summer is Coming!
Yes, you read that right. Summer is, in fact, coming soon. Now, I know this summer may not look like summers of the past, but much of the same activities WILL be happening and its about time you sit down and ask yourself if you're ready!
Again, with all that is currently happening in the country around us, things may not feel like summer but if you do me a HUGE favor and take a quick peek at your phone's calendar and tell me what day it is...? Yep, that's right it's JUNE PEOPLE!
On a similar topic, as a trainer, the phrase I hear most is, "I'm getting in shape for summer." (or something along those lines). Some of you may not be feeling "ready" to go out on the boats or paddle boarding with your friends....
Let me stop you right there. You're probably expecting me to be preaching about working hard and earning your summer body and blah blah blah, am I right?
Guess what? I'm going to tell you all the honest truth. NONE OF US ARE "READY". We all were in the same quarantine. We were all not permitted to go to the closed down gyms. We are all probably not eating as well as we should, even with the area restaurants being closed for most of that same stay home order.
All of that being said, we all need to take a damn chill pill and enjoy the short summer season we get around here. Who really cares what you look like in a bikini or if you're "adequately tanned". That goes for Men and Women. Given the aforementioned circumstances, no one is ready, which stated differently, means its a level playing field.
Instead of beating yourself up for not looking a certain way, that carries more weight than you think. That lack of self respect can carry into other facets of your life and that could get ugly.
As a trainer, you're expecting me to say something in an opposite tone right? That may be what separates me from other "trainers".
I truly help.
I am going to be far more involved with your journey than those "fly by night" trainers that count to ten for you.
Summer is upon us and whether you like it or not, where you're at is where your're at, for now. So embrace the "suck". slap on a smile. Grab a nice summer beverage and enjoy the short summer season that we have.
This doesn't mean give up on your goals. This doesn't mean that this is the end of the road and its as good as its going to get. Because, there is always work to be done. But everyone needs to relax a little.
If you haven't noticed, there is a whole lot more going on in this world that is far more important than worrying about how you look sitting on a boat...
Take a look around you. Find a reason to be thankful. Go out of your way to be kind to your neighbors and there neighbors and do us all a favor and be kind to one another.
"We all need somebody to lean on."
