Summer is 3 Months Away... Are you Ready?

Recently, I have been working towards my own goals. But what I enjoy more is helping people reach theirs. The busier I get, the more I have to plan and in planning, I realized that there is only 3 months until summer!

Now, if I'm being honest, many clients I have worked with think that they can go from "out-of-shape" to "in-shape" in a matter of a week or two....

Truth is, it takes more than that. There are going to be times when you don't want to exercise or watch what you eat. I get that. Would you believe it if I told you I am the same way...? We as human beings want to be social and want to have fun and there are steps along the "fitness process" that may or may not be fun. So what do you do when fun intervenes in your fitness goals?

I want to give you 3 easy steps to follow for staying the course leading up to summer.

1: Develop consistency.

Individuals have a tendency to work their tails off all week and "celebrate" during the days off. We all need to develop some form of consistency. Consistency can be found in eating and exercising. so here is how you do it.

Try to pack your own lunch to take to the office or job site. Make sure you have an adequate amount of calories. Enough energy to get you through the rest of the work day. Bring snacks to munch on during those times when you "hit a wall". (Healthy snacks of course!) Fruits and vegetables are easy to pack. So are almonds and chicken, plus, making sure you stay properly hydrated. All of this should lower your overall caloric intake while also helping you feel fuller longer!

That leads me to tip #2.

2: Start small (learn your body)

There are plenty of examples showing incredible feats in the fitness world. Know that if you're just starting out, those feats should not be tested! It takes longer than most think to get into a routine regarding fitness but let me tell you, it takes far longer to return from serious injury. What I mean by starting small is learning your own limits. The fitness world is so vast with information and many exercises can apply to several types people. So, find what interests you. What works with your current state of fitness and something that you can maintain over the course of the long haul.

My last tip, but certainly not least. (Maybe the most important actually!)

3: Fully Commit

What does it take for you to fully commit to something? Like actually commit? And what happens when the going gets tough? Do you just quit when its to hard?

These are all questions you need to ask before starting down the fitness path. I don't intend for this to scare anybody but , like many others, I choose to be as open and transparent with my followers as possible.

It's not going to be easy. There are times when it will be. Its called balance. and that's the way the world works. There aren't going to be medals for doing a pull ups or mentions on the local news for doing sit-ups. People magazine won't be writing articles for you after you run a mile.

But, the reward is knowing that you are bettering yourself. Each day you wake up, go to the gym, move weights around and try to eat right, is another day you are that much closer to your goals. It takes time and its not always fun. But, it IS ALWAYS WORTH IT.

So there you have it. My 3 step process to help you...
