I'm so sick of this!
Over the past week, my wife has basically had the plague of sicknesses- nasty combination of strep throat, a sinus infection and pink eye had taken its toll. Needless to say, she hasn't had much desire to go anywhere, do anything.... or work out.
The point of this post is to let all of you know that its ok to take a step back from your workouts when you're sick. Simply getting back on the horse and trying to push your body to the brink may not be in you best interest. Don't worry if you feel you have gone backwards from what you were doing before your sickness. That should be expected.
Now, I'm not saying you should quit working out entirely. But, being sick, that is your body's way of communicating that it is tired and needing to recover.
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!
By recovering fully before hitting the gym again, you're allowing for longer term results for the foreseeable future. Give your body the break it deserves but get back on that horse quickly without overloading your body on your first workout back. Take a day or two to work back up to your previous level and you'll do your body a big favor.
Don't give up, and don't get discouraged by this step back. You'll be back blasting your workout before you know it! And remember...
